The Art of Containment (Dust Containment and Infection Control)

Recently, we have had the pleasure of showcasing to contractor's and facilities a great presentation that we call: The Art of Containment. In that presentation by HEPACART™, we briefly cover the topics that we have covered before including infected dust, HEPA-filtration, proper air-flow and air-changes per hour. The Art of Containment, however, goes a step further and examines additional factors at work that go beyond some of the basics as it relates to choosing proper containment tools.CaptureFactors

We help hospitals and contractors with the "art" of containment. We define the "art" of containment as:

  1. Choosing the best tools for the application.
  2. Utilizing those tools in a competent way.
  3. Looking 'good' doing it. ("good" = safe, serious and professional)

Influencing the "art" of containment are a variety of other factors including:

  1. Science -- The evolving understanding of epidemiology, technology and patient care.
  2. Legal & Regulatory -- CMS, Joint Commission, malpractice, HAI (hospital acquired infection) rates, infection control for facilities managers, and more.
  3. Financial -- The costs associated with Legal and Regulatory plus ROI, TCO, material costs, and more.
  4. Moral -- The "do it right for grammy principle" and "the golden rule"

The "Art" of Containment Brings it all together as the factors above influence decisions regarding:

  1. Patient and (often-overlooked) employee safety.
  2. Productivity and project flexibility.
  3. Long-term thinking.
  4. Process and professionalism.
  5. Sustainability and waste reduction.

Over the next five blogs, we will look in-depth at each of these elements of The "Art" of Containment and how they all work together to protect people and increase productivity. Let us know if we can help with your next containment project. We also just launched our new 2014 product catalog and if you are interested in our dust containment options you can get a copy of the catalog by requesting below.
